Prós
IBM required this shop w/o allowing the contractors any option. This made it quite easy to embrace the contract shop since IBM presents the opportunity as a take it or leave it. Effectively, the company is a financial pass through, enabling IBM to expand a large workforce of non-employees with no benefits.
Contras
The company provides no interaction with the employee. Supervision is not really present, and when engaged, has no answers. When questions are asked, promises to get back with answers are not kept. No paid time off - no holidays, no vacation, no sick-time. Health care plans offered are in the range of $18,000 per year when premiums and deductibles are totaled.
