This company claims to be a provider of cutting-edge tech solutions, but ironically, the company’s equipment and procedures are outdated. Internal culture is full of unstandardized operating procedures, petty drama, toxicity, and power-tripping from the management. Local Office: Admin acts like she owns the place. She backstabs employees to the management (SG Office) within days of joining for unknown reasons and imposes her own rules that are neither written nor stated prior to or after onboarding. She complains to management that other employees are on their phones—even when it’s needed for work—while she spends her own time watching livestreams unrelated to work. Cameras have been installed throughout the office except in her own space, where she is free to engage in personal calls filled with profanity and engage in hypocritical behaviors that she criticizes others for. She pushes personal goals to taint other employees' reputations and shifts the blame for her own faults and responsibilities. Contractors are not spared either, as she repeatedly berates them by shouting. Essentially, she sucks up to management to cover her own faults and invents stories to deflect blame, often accusing others of things she herself is guilty of. The pantry, which is under her responsibility, is replenished only every two months and contains unhealthy, generic snacks. Technical Manager: The previous manager was sacked due to incompetence and imposing unstandardized and inconsistent practices. This demonstrates that the company does not carefully screen for managerial roles. The current manager is a dictator with a bloated ego. To maintain her favor, you must constantly stroke her ego with compliments—or she will force you to do so, even in front of clients. She repeatedly insults clients passively and, when they take offense and report her behavior, she shifts the blame to other attendees. Previous AEs have warned others about her, given her seniority and now managerial role. She has a pattern of assigning prep work to subordinates, only to claim it as her own. Even when you prepare for presentations, she will take over and deliberately make you look incompetent in front of clients, only to later report you to the sales manager. This sabotages your reputation both internally and externally. In summary, the technical manager has a kiss-my-ass mentality. If you don’t comply, you’ll be sabotaged. Resigned AEs have already reported this to management, yet no action has been taken. HR and Management: The job description provided during hiring was misleading. I was hired to perform a specific set of tasks and was only expected to have basic knowledge of other services offered by MATLAB. However, after a month, I was primarily assigned tasks outside my expertise, which were optional in the job description. This workload shift is a result of the resignation of senior and key AEs, leaving the remaining AEs to cover the void. HR has been unable to hire replacements despite the resignation of approximately two AEs per month. Internally, there is speculation that the company isn’t truly hiring new AEs but only posting job openings to create the illusion of relief for current employees. This aligns with their blatant cost-cutting measures. HR also imposes unreasonable policies, such as canceling WFH arrangements when there’s a holiday during the week. Leaves must be scheduled at the start of the quarter due to manpower issues. Sick leaves and emergency leaves are heavily scrutinized, often requiring justification that invades employees’ privacy. Bereavement leaves are not respected. Despite the company’s claim to operate in a multicultural/multinational domain, it is highly disrespectful of the cultural and behavioral norms of other countries outside of SG.
