It was pretty usual multiple stages process at first sight.
Coding task -> technical phone interview -> video conference -> on-site interview
Honestly, I didn't believe Glassdoor's bad interview reviews because first two steps was looking good. Not fascinating but not really boring coding task and nice and competent interlocutor on the second stage (man, if you are reading this, know that you are awesome, it was really nice to talk).
But the third stage.. I didn't expect anything like this in 2019.
Just to describe the atmosphere: camera and monitor are hanged somewhere in the top of the conference room and you see all the people from top to bottom. Two girls with tight smiles and one tech guy with face if I had thrown a dead rat on his table.
And then:
Why we should choose you?
Why are you leaving your current company?
Why you won't leave our company? (oh, this was REALLY important)
What are your salary expectations? (it was discussed at the beginning before the 1st stage)
And all others pattern questions from the brochure "how to tell a candidate that we have a real corporate hell inside, just run".
At the final I need to add that if you check employees of the company at one famous professional social network you'll find that most software engineers aren't from EU and work in the company less than 24 months (stay period to get German permanent residence and ability to change employer easily).
