Apply online with a lot of questions (easy), received email to attend a Magic Event. Remember your right to work documents because one person didn't have theirs and they had to go home! Sat down in a room, quickly introduced to observers, did activities in pairs. First activity icebreaker: turn to your partner, introduce ur name and age, why want to work at Asda, if you won the lottery etc. You could make notes then went round as a group (19 people were invited to come but only 12 did) had to introduce ur partner to the group. Next was some videos about Asda whilst observers went outside to talk about what they saw. Then, activity with a bag - had to pick an item out of the bag w/o looking, partner picked a card to be a customer - I got some teething stuff and my partner was a grandad which I had to sell it to! Had 5 minutes to practice, then perform to group. Quite enjoyable & funny. Then had a break. After split into groups and took in turns to have a 1-1 interview (easy), Have a go (basically asking customers if they want u to help pack their bags & quick tour) and admin task (availability & checking of documents). Overall fun, didn't get the job due to flexibility since I'm still a student. People who were successful would attend an induction / Best Welcome the following Tuesday (interview was on Thursday)

After applying online I was invited to an Asda Life session which took place a few days later. Eight of us were scheduled to attend but only four did. We were introduced to each other and three members of staff who stayed with us for the session. The session involved listening to the staff talk about themselves and their time working at Asda, learning about the different departments you can work for, a tour of the store, some time working in the store like facing shelves and shadowing people working on the checkout etc. At the end we all went back to the room we had been occupying, each of us spoke about our recent work/school histories and hobbies etc then we were told they would get back to us soon and we were allowed to leave. I found the process to be really chill and not intimidating, the staff took notes but you didn't feel like you were under constant surveillance, and I heard back the same day.
