Candidatei-me online. O processo levou 2 dias. Fiz uma entrevista na empresa American Income Life (Burnaby, BC).

      Entrevista

Disorganized and very loud music. The interviewer was late for the first and second interviews. I think this is a good experience for anyone getting to know the interview process. I could not verify the claims of the company during my conversations and I felt that I wasn't given straight answers when I asked questions. The interview process was a short 1:1, about 15 minutes and the second interview is a group interview in a classroom style setting where a presentation is made. I think the receptionist called my interviewer because I was sticking out like a sore thumb and possibly making everyone else nervous. The interviewer appeared and the interview surprisingly was upbeat, positive and seemed genuine. I could read right through her. Prior on the phone I had asked if the office was accessible by skytrain only and she lied. She was a bad liar and I could hear the lie through the phone. I have a car anyway and knew beforehand it wasn't accessible by skytrain. Transit, perhaps, but not skytrain. I smiled my way through the interview and was still curious to see what would come of it. I had an open mind. I certainly had the experience. I enjoyed the interaction but her blatant lie over the phone before we had even met had already coloured my perception of her. She said she liked me a lot and wanted to push me to a second interview. I had another commitment so arranged for the next day. It was a mistake. I agreed anyway and made the 30 minute drive out to see them, over a bridge or two. When I got there the terrible music was blaring again like it was 1999 and the apocalypse was near. It was louder! The receptionist had turned it up into mind-numbing decibels and AGAIN, asked us to fill out a very long multiple-paged (about 4-5) questionaire. Was I at school? Was I in a nightclub What was this A cult? I was slowly beginning to think of it as a completely different animal and it began to feel a bit like a joke. I filled out the questionaire. Minutes ticked by...10, 15, 20 minutes. I had another appointment and had given this interview 2.5 hours' leeway. I began to realize that this ''interview'' wasn't going to start anytime soon. I talked to the receptionist and she seemed apologetic. It was an outrageous waste of time. She asked if I was wanting to reschedule and I think I lost it. This was the most unprofessional interview process I have EVER been to in my entire career and I have worked everywhere from sales to the financial industry, to bookstores, law firms as a paralegal, and architectural firms in HR. Having an HR background, I cannot fathom working in an organization such as this. No self-respecting individual trained in any advanced graduate professional skills would associate with a company such as the one set up before me that day. It was appalling. Needless to say, I left because I had to be somewhere else on time. As it turns out they failed to mention that I would be sitting around for 30 minutes twiddling my thumbs before the interview began. Had I known this, I would have prepared for it and scheduled my time accordingly. What a joke.

Interviewer tells you about the company and its values. Then he/she asks you how you fit in. Where do you see yourself in the near or far future. What is your passion, what makes you happy. What are you about.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. Somehow this company got a hold of my resume, I don't remember how. They called me to talk about my qualifications, some brief questions about my management experience, what I'm looking for in my career. They scheduled me for a 15 minute interview later that week. When I got to the address they gave me, it was not actually American Income Life, but instead Altig-Overic or something. The man interviewing me in person was the same person who had contacted me over the phone, although he said he was regional manager over the phone, but in person was supposed to be the project manager. The company is in a VERY crappy office - the carpet must be 25 years old. However, the interviewer was dressed in a very expensive suit and tie. He asked again about my management experience, if I was growth oriented (probably said growth about 15 times), and what I was looking for in a career. He told me that his boss made $150k in his first year, and joined the board of directors in his second year. He then said that I made it to the third round of interviews, which was to happen at 1:00, which was when my interview ended. This third round was all of the people who had made it to the third round in a very crappy conference room, so that we could all ask questions at the same time, and they could see who stood out among all the others. I knew by then that this was NOT where I wanted to work, even if it was even remotely possible to honestly make that much your first year. The man wanted me to follow him immediately to the conference room, but I tried to get out of it as best I could, even though he made it very awkward. Please, please, don't waste your time unless you want to feel like you fell for some scam and wasted a page of expensive resume paper.

I applied through hawaiijobsondemand.com and the listed was minimal and said works with union workers and listed as entry level management with no company. Through an email reply soon after applying, the signature line shows AIL ALTIG. I replied with an interview time and date. Look up the address and shows a AIL office. RUN!! Glassdoor reviews shows that it is indeed a sales position. So I email the guy who set up the interview and ask if it is a entry level management or sale position of any type. He sends back a one line email saying it was a sales position. I replay back to decline the interview. Sorry but that kind of deception right off the back is enough for me to walk away from a company.

I saw an ad for this business and emailed mr.no name (this person never disclosed their name) with my resume. I got a call from no name about an hour later where he asked me to come in for an interview at 10am on the following Tuesday. I agreed and hung up, and then received a text from no name explaining where the interview would be and that I needed to wear business attire. I realized that he had never told me his name. And the ad itself was very vague. I started to get skeptical, so I did my research and noticed that the agency he had paid to promote the ad had nothing to do with this actual company, it was a name to hide behind so people like you and I couldn't do a quick search and find all this dirt. Being who I am, I dug deeper. Hours into glass door reviews, I am convinced they tried to perform the same bait and switch method on me that they did everyone else. If they were honest with people upfront that they were really hiring for sales, they would never get any employees. Who wants to work for 100% commission? And travel with no compensation for it? They don't even pay for your licensing. Not to mention all the other crap you go through with them, just to lose out in the end. I decided to text no name and ask what position I am being interviewed for and if the interview would be one on one, or the group interview setting everyone seems to find themselves in with this company. He avoided the position question (ofcourse), and described a "3 step proccess" involving a group interview that I read all about here on glass door. That's all I needed to confirm my suspicion. Don't fall into the trap. This company is dishonest and misleading. I am not going to my interview scheduled for tomorrow. They won't be baiting and switching me. As for no name, well, he's still got no name, and still a jerk. I'd like to inform AIL that they missed out on a dedicated hard working employee (myself) through these dishonest actions. Get a back bone and stop trying to dupe people.
