I was referred by a friend for the position, which I believe helped me secure an initial phone screening. In the confirmation email, I was told the conversation would cover three areas: 1) my professional experiences and skills, 2) an overview of Anduril and the role, and 3) time for my own questions.
Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. The recruiter seemed disengaged from the start. After I summarized my background and relevant skills, the recruiter responded with, “I don’t see how you fit the marks for this role.” It felt as though my application materials hadn’t been reviewed beforehand, and that the assessment was based solely on that brief exchange. Following that initial question, I didn’t feel that meaningful or relevant questions were asked to better understand my qualifications, and I sensed continued pushback with each response.
Overall, it was a negative experience. I had been genuinely excited to learn more about the company and the position, regardless of the outcome, but I left feeling confused about why they even set up a phone screening in the first place if I "didn't fit the role."
