Quickly got a phone call from a Sheffield branch after applying online, was successful in a quick 10 minute phone interview about why I wanted to work at Nero and previous experience, and arranged a roughly 30 minute interview in person. There were a lot of "ice-breaker" questions to start with about what I did and my hobbies were, which threw me off a bit. The interview didn't feel very natural, it was very obvious that the manager was just following exactly from the book in front of her. Then there were some standard questions about my experience and competency based interview questions, one of which she made quite clear I had answered badly but there wasn't any of the working along with you that I've had in all other interviews. She finished by saying "If you're successful we'll call you tomorrow and if you're not then you won't hear from us. That okay?" I have 2 years of food service experience and felt I answered all the questions well apart from perhaps one. I also asked how well they coped with busy influxes of people, so maybe that was part of the reason why I was unsuccessful!
