Case: How would you go about designing _______ for _______? (i.e. a video app for the elderly)

Most product design challenges can be tackled by following the framework? 1. What's the problem we are trying to solve? - why do elderly folks need a video app ? > is it convenience? variety ? flexibility ? unavailability of content through other sources ? > in what context is it going to be used > as a substitute to tv ? other apps etc ? 2. Which elderly in particular are we talking about what are their personas ? we can think in terms of > Physical attributes - can launch an app but may not be able to work intricate navigation > Male/Female > Is it to entertain grand kids ? 3. Once we have the personas (- let's say it's female who wants to catch up a new hobby and also a way to entertain her grand kids) 4. we then work on what's important for such a persona > ensure that there is sufficient content for what the user is interested in > be able to browse/search > sufficient content to entertain her grand kids once in a while > content is available offline as she wants to save on internet costs. 5. now we have the above let's see what the alternative are ? and how they compare ... met vs. unmet needs 6. let's think about feasibility from a price, promotion, placement perspective to ensure that it's a product that be successful (e.g. maybe the cost of offline content is prohibitive ?) 7. I would think that answering or going forward assuming using the framework above should make up for a well rounded answer.
