I was directly contacted by phone. I had not submitted against the position, but was pulled from my experience and presumably keywords. I was asked to come in for an interview. I was skeptical, but drove in for the interview the next day. Very quickly, it was apparent that they were looking for a slightly different person than actually posted - and certainly not someone with my many years of experience. It was good to find out what they needed, but a phone interview (screening) would have saved us all a lot of time and effort.
