      Candidatura

Candidatei-me por meio de uma agência de recrutamento. O processo levou 3 semanas. Fui entrevistado pela Dream11 (Bombaim) em dez. de 2016

      Entrevista

I was approached by an HR consultancy firm for job opportunities in Dream11. The consultancy HR mentioned that Dream11 was primarily looking out for Experienced Java guys for their technical stack. I was a little sceptical as Dream11's career page did not mention any position related to Java. Still, I decided to go ahead with the interview on the consultancy HR's assurance. The Dream11 HR emailed me and asked for a time to have the initial discussion. After setting up the time, I never got the call and later the HR rescheduled it again. It happened twice and then finally I had the discussion which included the basic tech and past project questions along with my expectations and a little bit about the company and company's culture. Dream11's HR are head over heels when they talk about their company and you feel like its the best company in the world to work for. One more trait is that they always mention that people from big companies like Housing, Ola, Netflix, Google, Yahoo have joined them which I think is to portray that best company image. This happened in all the HR discussions that I had with them which a little irritating. After the first HR discussion, an initial telephonic round was setup which never happened as Dream11 kept on saying that there were some backend issues due to which the panel was busy. Hence the telephonic round was skipped and I was called for a face to face interview. I was told that all my interviews will be over on that same day. On the day of the interview, I reached the office on time only to know that I have to wait for over an hour as the panel weren't in. From my past experiences with Dream11, this was expected and hence after about an hour, the interview started with the CTO and a Frontend architect. The questions were all conceptual and architectural. The CTO's questions were more towards the current projects that I was working and the flow that I have designed. These questions were generic and weren't technical at all. After that level, I had another round with the Backend Architect and a Backend Lead. The Architect was a java guy and hence he focused on Java. This round was good for me and I enjoyed it. The Backend Lead asked about Databases which were basic questions. After this round, the CTO came and mentioned that the CEO is busy with some important stuff and my feedback will be given to the HR. I asked for the technical stack that they use to which he said it includes Java, nodejs and golang. I had already inquired about their technical stack through my contacts after the initial scepticism and I found that Dream11 runs on nodejs with a hell lot of heavy lifting done in Mysql. I wanted to talk to the HR about these things and as the HR had told me that all my rounds will be done on the same day but the CTO mentioned that the HR team is busy with some stuff for the day and they would get back to me soon. For the next couple of days, I asked for feedback from the HR to which they did not bother to reply. Finally, the HR emailed me asking for a time slot for a discussion with the CEO. This was rescheduled twice as expected and it happened late evening wherein he just mentioned the feedback that he received and my interests. It was a general discussion and after which I received the offer letter after 2 days. It was just a 1-page offer letter without the salary break up and the Dream11 HR expected me to sign it asap. Even the queries for salary break up went to deaf ears and no amount of push was good for them. Even the Consultancy HR was mediocre. There were bright red flags all over from setting up the interviews and respecting the individual's time. Hence I decided to decline the offer. The only positive point out of this interview is the amazing office space. Dream11 has one of the best offices that I have visited and anyone would love to work in such a cool environment. But I doubt it can be said for the work attitude.
