First step is a phone call, then a technical on-site interview, then culture fit/ behavioral interview. Everyone was very friendly. Be prepared to pair program and work with another engineer for the technical onsite. Having to write code on the spot is a little stressful but the other engineer was very helpful.
- Pair programming, build a small ios app

Where to even begin. Possibly one of the worst and most cruel interviewing experiences I’ve ever had. There were so many red flags even before coming in phrases like “we’ve talked to hundreds of engineers...” and “maybe our standards are too high”. The technical exercise was trivial; can you hit an API and parse the data coming back. No brainer. Except, not only do they make you bring your own computer, they make you present it on a TV and then lean over your shoulder and talk down to you the entire time, not even giving you a moment to think or even type without their interjections. They’re a nubile company, their process was confrontational and then they had the nerve to give feedback akin to “we want somebody more reflective and collaborative”. Uhh- what? You sat there and talked my ear off anytime I took a second to think during the entirety of a 90 minute exercise and didn’t give me a second to even work through any bit of the problem that you asked me to solve, which I did mind you and completed the task to spec. They were downright mean. I walked away knowing I would never want to work at such an antagonistic, soulless environment. If you have a shred of empathy and self respect I strongly recommend not even expending your time.
- Hit their public api, ETL, ez.
Candidato sigiloso de entrevista em New York, NY
Candidatei-me por meio de um recrutador. O processo levou 2 semanas. Fui entrevistado pela Dubsmash (New York, NY) em mar 2018
It applied through a recruiter. Had a phone call with the CEO, then one with main Android Engineer and then an onsite with both. Phone calls were fine, at the onsite it all went downhill. I had read the other reviews on this site and had mentioned that it made me rethink whether I wanted to come onsite but I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Well, unfortunately I can only confirm what the other review said. I was also asked to connect my laptop to a big wall mounted screen and when I repeatedly mentioned that that made me uncomfortable, the concerns were simply dismissed. I was handed sheet of paper that outlined a small project to implement. Nothing difficult. But then I was given an already set up project with gaps to fill in. Meaning it was "my way or the highway". I had trouble using the libraries that were put in place and therefore tanked the interview. So basically you are tested for knowing specific libraries, yes they are popular but not everybody has come across them. Whenever I would mention something the engineer did not agree with (basic Android Framework stuff), I was, again, just dismissed. They are clearly looking for a mini-me version of the current engineer. Which fits with them not having any answers to diversity related questions beyond "we'd be happy for you to carry that torch". I don't think in 2018 you can still afford to not make that part of your business, regardless how small you are. Well, we mutually agreed with had no interest in working with each other. P. S.: I waited a bit to write this review to compare this experience with other companies and no, this is not normal. I have been treated much better at other places, regardless of the outcome.
- Basic Android stuff, then implement a project, live, in front of them.

It started with a recruiter phone call, followed by a call with the two lead Product Managers. I was given a short project that included a bit of UX,UI, and thought processes well laid out. After the project, I had a phone interview with the CEO. All of the people great to interview with and the project was easy enough to complete in the time they asked but challenging enough to give you an idea of the problems you might face when working there.

Candidatei-me online. O processo levou 3 semanas. Fui entrevistado pela Dubsmash (Berlim) em jan 2016
I applied online, a few days later they contacted me on a friday afternoon to ask me to do a "business case" and send it back before monday morning, the case was long and involved selecting 4 out of 5 tasks and graphically showing them my ideas in a power point presentation, I chose not to answer the question regarding ideas on how to monetize the app. They asked me to go on an in-site interview with 2 HR representatives and the head of the content team (they had started considering me for a position within content creation without clearly informing me before). In this meeting we discussed the ideas I had presented in more depth + additional ones, and they again asked me how I would monetize their app. Overall I got the feeling it went well, they told me enfatically they had a good feeling and one week later I received an email with a rejection.
- Ideas about how to monetize?
