After applying to their job posting, I was contacted via LinkedIn messaging by an HR representative who asked me a series of seven questions about my experience:
How many years of experience do you have writing SEO-optimized content?
Which SEO tools have you used in your writing workflow?
Can you share a link to one of your published SEO articles?
What CMS platforms are you experienced with?
Do you have experience writing content for the travel industry?
What are your monthly salary expectations in USD?
What is your current notice period?
After taking the time to answer all of these, essentially conducting a full pre-screening, I was told that the budget for the full-time position (40h/week) was $15,000 USD per year.
To be clear, this amount is below the legal minimum wage in my country, where they were hiring.
Needless to say, I declined.
Frankly, it’s unacceptable... Offering a full-time position at a rate that doesn’t even meet basic legal standards is not just unprofessional, it’s outrageous. This kind of practice should not be happening, and it certainly shouldn’t go unnoticed.
