This was only the first interview with EnSilica, I didn't get through to the second interview.
I was invited by the chief engineer, David Tester via email to a video interview over teams, the interview was to be in the week after I received the email. The interview was scheduled for the Tuesday at 4pm with David. On the day of the interview, I got an email at 11:15 telling me that that time can no longer happen and that he could do the interview at 4pm on the phone (no camera) or it can be moved to 6pm and still be on teams. I opted to continue with the video interview so It was moved to 6pm.
In the interview, he introduced himself and talked about the company a lot. He talked about what they do, the type of ASICs they develop, the teams they have and how projects are ran. He was very relaxed, conversational and leaning back in his chair. After talking about the company a lot and responding to questions I had about the things he was saying, he asked me some questions. Classic ones like individual project work, team work, struggles i have overcome, my university modules and their details, what modules I am excited for in the future and my grades in the year prior. After that, he asked If I had any questions. After my questions the interview was over.
He spent two weeks to get back to me after my interview. The applicant pool was cut down from a very large number, to less than 10 people for the first round of interviews, to two people for the second round of interviews. Only one person was chosen for this position. I made it to the final shortlist of the interview pool but wasn't chosen for the final round of interviews. The final round was to be an in person panel interview with him, someone from HR and someone from one of the active project teams.
