Candidatei-me por meio de uma agência de recrutamento. O processo levou 2 semanas. Fui entrevistado pela EnSilica (Oxford, Inglaterra) em nov. de 2024
Entrevista
This was only the first interview with EnSilica, I didn't get through to the second interview.
I was invited by the chief engineer, David Tester via email to a video interview over teams, the interview was to be in the week after I received the email. The interview was scheduled for the Tuesday at 4pm with David. On the day of the interview, I got an email at 11:15 telling me that that time can no longer happen and that he could do the interview at 4pm on the phone (no camera) or it can be moved to 6pm and still be on teams. I opted to continue with the video interview so It was moved to 6pm.
In the interview, he introduced himself and talked about the company a lot. He talked about what they do, the type of ASICs they develop, the teams they have and how projects are ran. He was very relaxed, conversational and leaning back in his chair. After talking about the company a lot and responding to questions I had about the things he was saying, he asked me some questions. Classic ones like individual project work, team work, struggles i have overcome, my university modules and their details, what modules I am excited for in the future and my grades in the year prior. After that, he asked If I had any questions. After my questions the interview was over.
He spent two weeks to get back to me after my interview. The applicant pool was cut down from a very large number, to less than 10 people for the first round of interviews, to two people for the second round of interviews. Only one person was chosen for this position. I made it to the final shortlist of the interview pool but wasn't chosen for the final round of interviews. The final round was to be an in person panel interview with him, someone from HR and someone from one of the active project teams.

Tell me about a time when you struggled with something.

I found the job vacancy through an agent. After an initial discussion with the agent, he sent my resume to the Ensilica hiring team. A couple of days later, the agent came back to me with initial positive feedback from Ensilica, saying that they wanted to have a first-stage interview with me. They arranged the interview 2 to 3 days after giving the feedback, and it took place early in the morning. I had prepared a presentation of my experiences, both academic and commercial. The presentation was designed to be presented quickly, to allow enough time for the discussion. I had also prepared some hidden slides in case of in-depth questions about my work. They were happy with the presentation and felt that I had a vast common area of experience with the role. They asked a couple more questions, and I answered all of them honestly. If there was a subject that I didn't know about, I would admit my lack of knowledge, but I would also show my passion to learn the subject. On the same day, they contacted the agent to say that they were very happy with the interview and wanted to do a technical interview. It could be both online and in-person, and I decided to go with the in-person option because it allowed me to better understand the company and the environment. The second stage took place at the company. The team manager conducted a technical test, and Hopefully I did well enough. The HR and technical team manager then asked me questions about my previous experiences. They were all kind and polite people. Two weeks later, the agent called me and told me that they were happy to offer me the job.

Why do you think you are a good fit for this role?

A roughly 60-90 minute initial discussion with the hiring manager about the role and responsibilities, and what I would bring to the position. Some technical questions regarding ASIC design, function and manufacture; and RF communications. Touched upon some satellite communications which I think was the main aspect of the role. Some very brief discussions about Grant management. All positive feedback to the point where I was contacted to arrange a face-to-face interview on site, only to get a rejection email 1 day later. All very bizarre. I'm not sure that I'd interview or apply here again...

Summarised for ease of reading: How would I manage and run a project? What methodologies would I use? What wavelength are radio waves? What is the design process for ASICs?
