I applied at GameStop right before the holiday season. I have previous experience in retail. I dressed well and brought a copy of my resume in with me. I asked if there were any positions available, particularly in management. Filled out application, returned next week. Interview was informal, (at the restaurant next door). Interview questions included game console experience, previous retail experience, why did you leave former employer, why do you want to work at gamestop, which game consoles do you own, etc...

All questions were pretty basic. What is your availability, what previous retail experience do you have, what game systems do you know about/own, why did you leave your previous job.

Very simple and easy going. First was a group interview and then an official secondary interview at the store. Everything was communicated very well and all questions were relevant to experience needed.

I was asked several behavioural questions, to determine my suitability for working in a retail environment. The focus was on my ability to learn and understand the store rules, as well as be able to handle customer needs. Very little was asked about video games.
