A Goalcast recruiter reached out to me via LinkedIn telling me how impressed she was with my profile. She even requested to video call with me to start a working relationship and tell me all about the company. It all sounded great until she sent me a video editing test. She actually sent 2 but I would only do one because it was unpaid and a big time commitment.
The edit test was absolutely egregious given that there was no compensation. As a freelance editor with 7+ years of experience at the time, I was appalled. The test was to edit a short polished documentary in 3 days - with around 3-4 hours of footage to sift through. After crunching the video out in 2 days, I submitted and did not get offered the job (obviously).
The absolute worst part was not not getting a job, it was the sheer disrespect from the recruiter. After taking up my time to meet and to edit for her, I asked if I could receive any constructive feedback or reasons as to why my video did not meet their standards. The recruiter completely disregarded this request and replied with the shortest and driest response. I would not waste my time if I were you.
