Met with recruiter to discuss role and and a few basic behavioral questions. Also asked about experience specific to the role. Allowed me to ask questions about the enterprise and structure of the org for the role.
It was very structured, but also conversational. It was a string of 8 different interviews and shows how serious Hilton is about bringing in external hires, particularly in protecting their culture. Half the interviews were about technical competence and the other in being able to assimilate; it goes both ways. The recruiting team did an amazing job at making it a streamlined process, but also accommodating my schedule.

Most were situational (tell me about a time), but in finer detail. Interviewers did a great job at steering me if I veered off course.
An internal sourcing recruiter reached out via LinkedIn and scheduled an initial phone screen. I was then scheduled with a different recruiter who was specifically sourcing this requisition, and we discussed the role via MS Teams video. It felt like I was talking to someone who had a previous role as a front desk check-in receptionist for one of their hotel properties. The questions and flow were very scripted and rehearsed. I thought the compensation for this level of role requirements was on the low end and they were putting labor dollars over value-add. I did express that I would be within their advertised salary range but on the higher end. They reached out a couple of weeks later with a boilerplate rejection email. Upon reflection, I am very confident that I was passed over because they were looking for someone cheaper.

Compensation requirements were a major reason for my rejection. Overall, I thought they were on the cheap side. This role should be enriched to a VP level based on the skills and vision they shared for achieving success as a candidate.
