I've taught a peer to peer tutoring program for 2 years in public school and 3 years Online ESL( for Korean students - teens and adults). I have a similar experience as you with another online tutoring school. I was docked points for similar reasons -- they say props were optional, and the person who pretends to be the five-year-old student has to say the word back to you, but they don't mention that in their rules. If you ask me, their procedure is quite unprofessional and doesn't present a level playing field. So before you can even start with them, they have a haphazard way of conducting business. But then the company I applied for was a really small one in the Philippines (I'm an expat and needed an extra job; there is a large influx of Chinese people needing English language lessons in Manila), not like VIPKid that has branches everywhere in the States.
