How owuld you design FB Sports?

This is a design Q. I'd go about this the following way - Business Obj: Are we looking to launch a feature - FB sports? (looks like it is pretty clear what the interviewer wants here) Use-cases/Personas - I would start by analyzing the different audiences and their needs before diving into designing the feature. #1 Audience -> Watch sports live #2 Audience -> Watch short clips with recaps, summaries, best plays etc Next I'd analyze the competition & figure out what our competitive moats can be potentially YouTube is probably our biggest competitor. Our moat is that we are a social platform and can potentially encourage our friends and family to watch together - and live comment and provide feedback. So another aspect to consider is how we can make this social, communal and fun Now diving into potential design solutions, I'd experiment with a few ideas - 1st - I'd look at a popular upcoming sporting event and stream it live. Given Facebook's videos popularity, this seems like a natural synergy in extending the portfolio to sporting events to capture a larger audience. I'd pick something that is applicable specifically to an audience I am experimenting with . For example, a soccer game in Spain to an audience in Barcelona or Madrid. Or a cricket match between India and Pakistan to an audience in the Indian sub-continent. 2nd - In doing so, I'd want to track metrics such as user engagement, comments, likes, shares etc. These seem to overlap with a "Facebook Live" session so I'd probably use the Live as a lead for the type of engagement metrics I'd track. 3rd - I'd try and leverage the FB videos infrastructure to the extent possible so I don't need to build stuff from scratch. Lastly, to critically evaluate the proposed solutions, I';d say narrowing an audience might help with targeted testing of engagement metrics, but may limit its global reach. Streaming a live game may involve parternship and licensing which may require additional scoping prior to diving into execution.
