I received an email to schedule a phone interview, as I was out of state. The phone interview with the Principal Investigator (PI) went well, so I emailed him the next day thanking him and expressing my interest in the position. About a week or two later, I followed up and we scheduled an in-person interview. I traveled 7 hours and the interview lasted about 3 hours. I was shown all the labs. I returned home, thanked the PI, and expressed my interest in the position once more. About a week later, I received an email stating that I was being offered the position. A week or two later, I received a phone call from the HR department stating that someone else had been hired who had more experience than I did, and who requested a significantly smaller salary offer. I was shocked by their lack of professionalism.

After initial application, the hiring manager reached out directly over email. We had a few rounds of interviews. This varies based on the lab and role. Ended with talking with HR to go over logistics.
