I applied for an NIH fellowship and needed a research mentor. I applied to the laboratory of my choice and was given a phone interview. After which, I was asked for a site-interview where I toured the lab and spoke with all the lab members individually.

The interview consisted of me giving a 45 talk, and then individual meetings with my supervisor and other members of the lab. Each person asked me similar questions about my PhD experience and my goals for my postdoc, as well as long term goals. They asked me what training I thought I needed.

Skype interview with the Principle investigator is the first things happens if you are not in the US. Sometimes you will be required to come to the laboratory and have interview with all of the lab member entire of day and give a presentation in the lab meeting.
