Relatively straight forward. An application form with CV, followed by a questionnaire. This then led to psychometric questions which were fairly easy. They were on an app game platform that made it less daunting. Passing that led to a video interview. If you pass this, then your application is reviewed in greater detail. Assuming you pass that, its assessment centre time!

After receiving the notification that I didn’t progress to the assessment stage for the recent Graduate Project Management role, I took some time to reflect on the feedback. While it’s disappointing, I see it as a valuable learning opportunity.
The main takeaway was that my CV, while strong in general management and technical skills, didn’t clearly enough connect my experience to the specific demands of a technical project management role. My time at McDonald’s gave me real-world experience in leading teams, improving processes, and ensuring safety—but I need to better articulate how those skills translate into managing engineering projects, not just operations.

Entrevista
The process was slick when in communication but months went by waiting for any progression from the initial application to the situational awareness test to the assessment centre to the final interview. I think that was due to the COVID 19 pandemic effects but still took a lot longer than anticipated.

There were 5 situational questions. There were 5 main questions with about 4 follow up questions for each one. You had 90 seconds to read the question and then up to 180 seconds to reply.

You're working on 2 projects. One for a Finance manager and one for your line manager. The finance manager comes and asks you if you will be finished by the end of week deadline. You did not understand this was the deadline and won't be able to. What do you do?
A friend is thinking about applying for Network rail. What skills should they have? Why should they work for Network Rail? What challenges will they face on the grad scheme?
For your first report, there is a clear guideline on how to structure it. You contact some of the teams to get the data you need. Some are reluctant and say that it is unnecessary. What do you do?
You are doing an investigation into reducing mobile phone bills. One manager's team has a bill double the others. You email him but he is reluctant to talk to you. What do you do?
