I had 6 total interviews, each of which lasted 30-60 minutes that happened over zoom (during COVID) over the course of about a month. They included the hiring manager, peers, and senior leaders of other functions within the company. The questions were primarily behavioral but also included leadership style, my interest in the industry/company and hypothetical business scenarios.
The frustrating part came at the end of the process when they told me the interviewer feedback had been positive but the best they could offer me would be a position that was slightly more junior than what I had interviewed for. In response to my questions, they told me that they had created 2 openings at a more senior level but those had both been given to people who were "more experienced." I was somewhat surprised and declined the verbal offer because the professional growth outlook, compensation and title did not meet my expectations. I was even more surprised when I found the other new employees on LinkedIn a month later and saw that they were both men with similar backgrounds to mine but about half as much experience at lower-tier companies, and similar degrees from lower-tier schools. This made me feel like I had been lied to about the outcome of the interviews, and that the process was a waste of time.
