For some strange reason I still consider Oracle interview as one of the best though I've attended interviews in comapnies like HCL, Sapient, Nokia, Verizon etc. I had sent my profile through a friend who promptly informed of my call well in advance. When I got my first phone call, I was clearly told what to expect out of the call, how long it will go on and the process that is also being followed to hire. The call went on exactly for 45 minutes as was told in the beginning. The whole conversation was highly professional, went into depth only when required - job specific questions etc. Then a date was set for a face to face interview. In the face to face interview, I met up with my working manager with whom I had a detailed discussion about what to expect out of my job in Oracle, what specifically the group's function is and some light on why I should be joining Oracle. (that was nice). After 2 days, I got a call from my would be manager about confirming my selection and also informed the detailed letter will follow. As promised I got it all and I joined. Oracle does not have a HR specific interview. The Manager / Recruiter themselves do this which cuts down on the time. Overall, I liked the process that is followed in Oracle for hiring.

The process is pretty long, you have to get through "dozens" of interviews till you get an answear. My first interview was with a junior recruiter who asked me basic questions about my experience and the reason/s why I would like to change my job. The other 3 or 4 interviews (I lost the count), were similar, but richer. Tests: excel and english. Final answear: overqualified for the job.
