I was contacted by a third-party recruiter, standard 10 to 20 minute phone conversation with them.
Then I was connected with the hiring manager for a 30 minute background / experience interview.
From their I received their take-home assignment. I spent a good day of work on this wanting to ensure that I produced something good. A couple days after sending this assignment in, I was invited to do a 3 hour "Final" interview.
After the first hour of this interview, the hiring manager jumped onto the zoom call and said "something came up" and we would have to reschedule.
I reached out to reschedule but did not receive a reply.
A couple days later I received the boiler plate rejection email.
This would all be fine and standard, but please if you expect an applicant to commit time to interviews and take home assignments, don't waste their time! Scheduling a 3 hour interview requires the applicant to take a day off work / hiring a sitter / is a large commitment outside of already requiring the applicant to finish a take-home assignment that is not time-boxed.
I have been through a lot of interviews at this point but I have never felt this level of disrespect or disposability from a company.

Design and implement an API that takes data types and converts them to another data type.
Interview process was not a great experience. First round interview was fine, just 30 minutes with their head of engineering, talking about experience, the usual first round. Then they ask you to do a take home assignment and on the assignment itself it literally tells you to spend a lot of time on it. Which is fine, I don't mind if im seriously being considered. But unfortunately, after putting in days of effort into the take home they straight up just didn't give me any feedback at all, and made it like it was my fault. Which is really disappointing, you should give feedback to people who put a lot of time into something that meets all your requirements.
They dont give you a particular paradigm or design pattern to use, but they seem to judge you on that if you don't pick the right one. Which is a bit ridiculous. I don't mind being passed on, but if people are going to be putting a lot of time into your take home, and you tell them to take a lot of time (usually they tell you dont spend more than X hours on it, but this one said they'd rather you spend a lot of time then get it done fast) then you are expected to give feedback that is clear and concise and not just a standard, copy and paste rejection.
