Applied online after seeing job posted on job board. Was contacted an hour or so after applying by HR via email asking me some background questions. I answered the questions in the email and sent it to HR.
An hour later I received another email from HR asking if I could come in for an interview Monday.
Went to interview and met with HR rep and company owner. Owner said he rarely sat in on the interview, but wanted to meet me because he was impressed with my resume.
Interview was very easy, and the owner made several statements that lead me to think I had the job, but he did mention they had more one interview set up for Thursday.
Didn't hear anything, so the following Monday, one week after the interview, I emailed HR and asked if I was still in consideration. Was told they had an "influx of candidates" and were "carefully evaluating" and I would hear something by Friday.
Well, it's Friday. Haven't heard anything. Job has been posted on a certain job board three times in past two weeks.
I've been ghosted so many times in the past four years, that I can't even get mad anymore, just want other people to know that Portrait Health are liars.

Due to a personal emergency I contacted the person I scheduled the interview with 2 days beforehand. Not very professional on my part, but I could not get out of going out of town on short notice for a family accident. I followed up with the recruiter since I had not heard back from the person I was scheduled to interview with. Once the recruiter got back, I was informed I could no longer be considered due to cancelling the interview the day of, which I did not do. Needless to say I'm glad it didn't work out because it doesn't appear to be a compassionate, empathic environment from my experience...

The initial phone screening was very professional and informative. The interviewer was a clinician himself so he asked relevant and thoughtful questions.
The second part of the interview was an in person interview with an HR representative and the President of the company. I had an in depth discussion about the position, the goals for the department, and what I could contribute. However, neither interviewer had clinical or ABA specific questions. The President of the company told me at the end of the interview that I “had his vote”. I was very enthusiastic about the opportunity.
I received a follow up call from the HR representative that they wanted to offer me the position. I told her I was excited and she emailed me the offer letter. I looked over the offer and replied that I had been offered the same salary with another company to fulfill a typical BCBA role and since this position would require more managerial responsibilities and building the program from the ground up, I would like additional compensation for those additional responsibilities. I provided a typical range for my request. I received a reply that they were revoking my offer because it was “inappropriate” for me to ask for a higher salary. I was so confused. I have always been told to negotiate the first offer. I don’t know how a company could go from the President giving me his vote, to being no longer interested over a small salary negotiation request. I thought it was completely strange, but was ultimately glad it happened so I didn’t end up working for a company with such bizarre practices and lack of consideration for treating employees respectfully. I would not recommend Portrait Health.
