      Pergunta 1

Introduce yourself. It was fun to answer some follow-up questions. What is your favourite subject? I said fluid mechanics. He said it's his favourite subject also, and started with the questions. What is the difference between Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids? I answered it correctly with the help of the graph between shear stress and shear strain. Then he asked a follow-up question, Give an example of a non-Newtonian fluid? I initially could not think of much and answered that fluids with less fluidity. Then he told me no what are those exactly? I told maybe some thick fluids. Then the interviewer started to continue with one personal life example like for making roti we mix water with maida, and the intermediate product is a non Newtonian fluid, which I also wanted to clarify but I couldn't answer. Then he asked about what is Bingham plastic? I answered that it doesn't follow the linear relationship of shear stress and strain, therefore, it is a non-Newtonian. He was not satisfied with my answer and asked me what is non-Newtonian about it? I tried to clarify it like with an example like (Ooblek), (I had watched a video on YouTube and I know practically how is this) Like when we apply force instantaneously, it acts as a solid. Like the same maida water mixture reference I wanted to give. He was not satisfied with this answer as well. He moved on to questions like which book did you study for your fluid mechanics. I answered only the name McCabe. He started asking for more books that you studied. I answered Coulson Richardson, and then there was a discussion around that he started discussing with the other interviewer, that he really likes the book, and he also read this book even now. He again asked me what are the textbooks that you follow? I had Octave Levenspiel in my mind still I didnt answer to avoid questions on Chemical Reaction Engineering as I was not confident enough on that subject. So I answered that most of the time, we follow the lecture slides provided by our professors. Then we had another discussion on that note as well. After that, he asked Do you know about the basics of Chemical engineering, because you don’t know textbooks and also fluid mechanics. Then again, he came with a question about Newton’s first law of motion. I answered that it is about inertia. Then he told No, I think you are wrong, the first law is that every action has an equal and opposite reaction. I said no, that is the third law. He was discussing more with the other two interviewers and was least interested in my answers. Then again, he told what is first law of thermodynamics. I explained the formula U=Q-W, and I even wrote it down on paper. He did not understand what exactly is U, he kept telling that no it is E and not U. I told that it’s internal energy and I even told like if work is done by the system then its -W and if its done on the system then its +W. Again, he was not convinced with my answer. I again told sir, its about energy conservation. He tried to convince me that no it’s not and told other formula where he told one pressure term. I was confused and told them to ask for questions on heat transfer. He asked how water boils? Why does water boil? Why should anything boils? I told because the heat energy agitates the molecules inside and therefore it boils. Then he was not convinced I even asked like I couldn’t comprehend the question properly. He continued with next question that what is the boiling point of water at sea level and the mountains? I answered that because of the less atmospheric pressure, they boil quickly at higher altitudes. He told me no I think its the opposite. They he got convinced with my answer after the hesitation. Then again he asked what will happen if I boil water and put a lid on the top of it and go to watch movie. He asked this question to me and the HR who was sitting beside him. I told that it would blow up because of the pressure generated inside. He then asked me about Fourier law of heat conduction. I told them the formula initially but he asked me what are the terms there. I was explaining but he went straight into the next question. What is the heat capacity?I told its the heat energy needed to increase the temperature by 1degC. then they asked me what is heat capacity of water? I asked one clarifying question: Are you asking me for the value? I told that it’s 4.18KJ/ (here I fumbled with the units, and I could have taken time for this) There itself they told me that you can go. I convinced them that I can leverage my analytical and management skills in the role of Business development based on the projects I did. I even explained my project. He was convinced in this part. Then again he told me to leave.
