Someone who identified themself by name from this company called at the appointed time using an anonymous caller ID. This was unusual since none of my interviewers have ever masked their caller ID.
To be fair, anyone can call with a masked caller ID and claim they were a person from represented this company, so please ead this review with that in mind.
He was courteous on the phone.
After asking a few questions he asked me to write code for their project for free to 'prove' I could do it. In my opinion, it was one of the most critical aspects of the project as well.
My feeling was that he was interested in free work and I believe he would use that work as a basis to complete their project. I suspect he was not interested in hiring, rather it appeared that he was looking for a way to complete this project.
Usually, a company will ask a candidate to perform a task that is unrelated to their business and they will not profit from it.
Needless to say, I refused to do it.
I felt this was improper to say the least.
