I applied for the position and got an email back to set up a phone interview. I received a call from the manager and buyer. It was probably the strangest interview I’ve ever experienced in that they didn’t ask me any questions.

No questions were asked which was strange. Instead she said “We want to get a feel blah blah blah so ... go ‘head when you’re ready.” I gave them the run down on my background and then they asked if I had any questions for them. I asked a few questions of course and she asked if I had any further questions (okayyy) I said no but do you have any questions for me? She said no. The whole time I felt like they weren’t at all interested and maybe they had already found a candidate. Either way it was very off putting.

I could tell right away that this company is uncomfortable with minorities, based on the questions asked. Plus previous friends I've had (3) that have worked here say there is very little culture in this workplace. I have over 5 years experience with the same position, and I know way overqualified for this position, but still nonetheless interviewed because I needed a job. I was given good feedback in 2 different interviews I had, but then totally ghosted by HR and their people each time. Not really very professional. At least let your candidates know if you are proceeding further or not instead of Zero feedback.

How do I deal with workplace drama? How do I handle disputes with other coworkers?

I applied and interviewed in June. Couldn’t give me a time frame on when they would get back to me. A month later still no response or even a thank you but no thank you letter. So I emailed one of the interviewers a month later and I was told they had decided on a candidate yet and we’re still interviewing….A MONTH LATER. So I let August go by and still didn’t hear anything. September comes and I decided to email them again. This time they email me back saying they picked someone last week. The fact that I had to keep initiating this process is terrible and shows that their company culture is not up to par.

Was initially asked about my availability for a phone screen, but then that was skipped and I went straight to a virtual panel interview. Overall, it was a pretty standard interview and went fairly well, I thought. There were 5 people on the panel and each person seemed interested and invested in the conversation. I was mostly disappointed about the lack of follow up from HR. They said it would be about 2 weeks and I’d hear back from them either way but no one ever reached out to me. I hate to assume but based on the further lack of response I received after emailing to ask if a decision had been made, I think it’s safe to say there’s no job offer waiting for me.
It’s so disappointing to see this kind of disregard for applicants. These are really difficult times and for people who have applied, interviewed, and been rejected from dozens of jobs, being ghosted by a company really sucks. It’s a simple act of decency for the HR team to follow up or respond to applicants even if the answer is, “sorry, we’ve gone with another candidate.” Applicants would rather get any response than to be left wondering.
