      Entrevista

      The process was long. Started with a 1-on-1 interview by a recruiter. Was then offered an interview in NYC a few weeks later. This interview was pretty long. It involved another 1-on-1, followed by a lesson plan/teach back session, and then an email writing simulation/preference sheet completion. If you have had experience interviewing, you'll find it to be pretty standard except the group portion. If you've never interviewed, I think you're more at an advantage since you can come in with an open mind. I found it to be easy personally but others in my group were very stressed/frustrated with the interview. My tips: know the facts and ins/outs of SA. They ask you a lot about why you want to teach there, and because they are constantly under the microscope, they want people who align with their missions in challenging the traditional model of education. Also, don't get stressed out when they give you feedback during the group presentation - this is on purpose as this is part of what happens in their schools daily (you receive feedback on the spot and they want to see how you deal with it). Also, if anyone from SA recruitment/hiring is reading this, please note I was very displeased with the disorganization internally. As someone who traveled a great deal for this interview, I felt my interview experience was not what it was described to be because there was some internal error on your end and my part of the interview had to be cut short. Hopefully this doesn't happen to anyone else. I got the offer in the end and accepted, but I could tell that something was happening in their office that day and that chaos/mishap in scheduling rooms caused a lot of problems for my group and I that may have contributed to others stress. Not a good interview environment. If your candidates are hard at work preparing, the least you can do is give them the interview environment you promised.

      2 Steps: 1) On-demand Video Interview - Consists of recording video responses to 8 questions through HireVuew 2) In-person Interview - Consists of 3 phases. A. the first one is a behavior management portion where they go around the room asking you to give your name, and a fun fact. Then they ask about questions related to the interview pre-work videos they sent via email. Followed by have you act out giving a consequence/correction to one of the recruiters acting as a student. - I believe that the biggest thing for this portion is showing that you understand and align with the mission of Success Academy which is No Nonsense Nurturing. Don't be too pushy, be sociable, give answers when it makes sense, and take into consideration their feedback when you act out the consequence part. - ~15 min break where you can converse with the other applicants in your group interview, there were around 20 of us on my day B. They split people into a 1 on 1 interview first and then come back to the main room, and a group that does a poem analysis portion on laptops first and then 1 on 1 interview. I was part of the poem first group, not sure if that means anything but it might. I applied to be a science teacher and could not care less about the poem, but I wrote 2 paragraphs (4 sentences each) for the analysis. Definitely not my best work, and I was the first person to submit my responses in the group, but I eventually got a job offer so I don't think this part is going to kill your app if you have the credentials to back up being a associate teacher in your field. My approach was to just answer it, check my grammar, and submit it. C. One on one interview, mine was with the head recruiter. Just me and her, no principal was there unlike some of the other reviews on here. She asked me standard questions to describe myself, what my interpretation of the behavioral management portion was (again they're looking for mission alignment), some other basic questions about myself and my background were asked which I cant remember, then there was a question about something I might struggle with when I first start the job. The interview ended with her asking if I had any questions for her, so have some questions prepared ahead of time. Overall I thought the interview went alright. It definitely isn't hard if you are qualified in your field and can back up why you want to teach. Also make sure you are someone who has done their research on the company and their ideology, mission alignment is the biggest part of their interview in my opinion.

      From applying to offer, about 3 weeks. I got an offer the day after I interviewed. It was a group interview setting for the majority of the 4 hours. The group setting was spent mostly on discipline and classroom management. Be sure to watch the pre-work video. Then we were separated into groups for the second part of the interview which was individual interviews (i interviewed with a recruiter and a principal) and it was a very friendly environment. No tough questions just basically why are you there. Then we were given a poem to analyze (what is the poem about and why did the poet write it) then a short essay for about what excellence means as a teacher. I totally half-assed the poem/essay portion.

      Entrevista

      The interview began as a group, with about thirty applicants, which were then split up into smaller groups for the next part. There were then several separate interview "parts" that took place in the smaller group with about eight participants - one dealing with classroom management (including scenarios and role-playing), one dealing with more general questions, and one dealing with literary analysis (dissecting a poem).
