Very positive, in that through every stage of the process, Tableau were very enthusiastic about me in each interaction and I was told by a senior representative that I would be a very good fit at the company. Based on the ongoing positive interactions I had, I thought I had a really good shot at the role. It was therefore very disappointing to receive a generic Do-Not-Reply Rejection email two weeks later given the amount of prep and direct contact I had with the company over the month.
As it is a new role, some aspects haven't been locked down yet, but I was told in the second interview that I had a very good understanding of the role and my skillset was of definite interest to them and would complement that of other team members.
The phone screen was successful; it was clear within 15 minutes that I would be moved forward.
The second interview went very well and that the interviewer was happy with the interview and she would pass on details to the hiring manager (who I never got to meet).
I prepared extensively, demonstrated that I understood the job requirements and I put forward several process suggestions and ideas, which the interviewer seemed to appreciate.
You're expected to download and test the Tableau product as part of your interview preparation. I have no problem with this. However, this means you get sales emails within a day. An interviewee isn't necessarily going to buy the product.
They even sent a sales mail to my current work address, putting other colleagues in CC. This could have been an issue for me. Strongly suggest that Tableau enables a feature in the product to let people say they're evaluating the product for interview purposes only. For that reason, I am saying negative; Sales/HR ought to liaise on the emails here. It is disconcerting to get sales pitches during the interview process.
