Unprofessional behaviour from certain staff member.
I received a job offer from someone interviewing me for a role in Food and Beverages on Saturday 12/09/20, where I signed some forms and he took some of my personal documents to scan. He told me he would be in contact with me "Monday or Tuesday" to further proceed with getting me started.
When I got home after the interview, I emailed him confirming a few of the details that were discussed in the interview, and asking some questions regarding my shift availability. I did this also to get proof of the job offer and its benefits in writing, as I had not yet received the written offer.
I heard nothing back from him for 10 days, so on 22/09/20 I rang his mobile, to which there was no response. I then rang the Tytherington Club asking if I could be put in contact with him, to which I was told he would be in for his shift in an hour. I stressed the importance of speaking with him as I was holding other job offers, and needed confirmation of a few details before I could reject them. I asked the receptionist to let him know I had called and for him to call me back that day. He didn't.
On 23/09/20 I called his mobile again, to which it rang out with no answer. I then rang Reception, and was told he was on another phone call, and to call back in an hour. It seemed to me at this point I was for some reason being avoided.
As requested an hour later I called back again, where I was finally put through to him, a full 11 days since my first attempt to contact him. When I explained the situation and asked him what was going on, he was very dismissive, unapologetic and attempted to shift the blame onto me. He told me my email didn't warrant a response, despite the fact there were two questions at the end which clearly required an answer.
The reason I needed to contact him so urgently was that I had other job offers on the table for me, and I required confirmation of the shifts and benefits as well as a written offer before I could reject the other offers I was holding.
His negligence in even attempting to get in contact with me has resulted in me accepting another job opportunity. This is not somebody I would want to work under, and I find it ironic that someone working in Hospitality with so-called "values in customer service" would show such disregard in those areas to a future employee.
I have dodged a big fat bullet here.
