The process started with a phone interview. Right off the bat they asked me about logistics: if I could get to the office, the salary requirements. They didn't ask me about myself or much about my job experience. It seemed like they just wanted to know if I could use excel and photoshop and if I could start ASAP. When I started to ask questions they gave me short, sometimes one word answers. I asked what the culture was like and they responded, "do your job." When I asked what the most difficult aspect of the job was they said, "be on time." I also asked when I should expect to hear back about the job and when they would connect with the hiring managers they said, "I don't know. I don't have a schedule in front of me." This was the first red flag. After that strange interview experience I was not expecting to hear back but surprisingly I did. I went in for an in person interview and it was basically 30 minutes of "give me an example" and behavioral type questions. It was pretty unnecessary for an entry level job that doesn't require any work experience. I was told that the next steps would include an excel/powerpoint test and then a final assignment. Am I getting my masters at the end of this? A PhD? May I remind you that this is an entry level job that will be paid around minimum wage. They didn’t even try to make the job sound interesting or enticing and they said that the person in the position would be making a lot of mistakes/would not be making an impact in the first year. Maybe they’re hiring the wrong people if they don’t know how to do their jobs after a year of being in the position or maybe the hiring managers don’t know how to train people? I knew that either way I would not want to move to the next step. If you interview with UMG make sure you are ready for on the spot type questions. It was not easy and laid back like some of the other reviews say.
