I applied online and immediately heard back with an invitation to schedule an interview. I have a bachelor's degree and experience tutoring and volunteering, but no formal teaching experience or license. To prepare for the interview, I watched a million youtube videos and noticed some helpful themes: wearing orange for the interview, appearing CALM but goofily cheerful, and PREPARATION. Unlike other teaching positions that might be interested in your unique skills, this is a commercial operation that requests very specific things from their American teachers. Firstly, to act "American," reflecting western teaching style (not strict, etc.) And secondly, to use their previously designed formula for teaching: 70% of the time, the student should be speaking. You must elicit responses using TPR, or basically emphatic gestures. And you must use the formula "I do, We Do, You Do." Remember to scribble on the slides and keep babbling or filler words to a minimum, as these are English language learners. :) There was a 20 point quiz on policies after accepting the offer, and I have two practicum/mock courses coming up this week before becoming a full-fledged teacher. The entire process should take ten days.
