Uncomfortable. No standard Technical Writing Interview questions. I am an open-book in Interviews about reasons for leaving any company I have worked for, but the questions regarding employment history had a very suspicious tone that I just didn't understand. The Interview process almost seems to have embedded in it the idea that people are hiding something. In a previous role I even had an FBI background check (and I have clean background), so I did not understand what I sensed to be suspicion on the part of the Interviewers. The entire interview simply felt weird. As a friend of mine is fond of saying, "Sometimes rejection is protection."

The initial screening was very typical just checking out your general qualifications. Next met with the channel VP. We had a lengthy conversation that I thought went OK. I never heard back from them after two weeks so my assumption is I didn’t get the job. Recruiters need to stop complaining about ghosting if they do it themselves; left me with a very negative impression of the organization.

I had an interview for a Full Stack Software Engineering Intern, for a role that used Django. I had two rounds of technical interviews on online and one on-site. The online one was through video call where I had to design an API. The on-site one was a continuation of the online interview plus a code design question.

WatchGuard wasted my time with an aptitude test, phone interview, and a round of 5 in-person interviews with no bathroom break. The recruiter came in afterwards and asked a irrelevant bunch questions but said all the right things. I went through the reference screening process, with an invasive mostly multiple-choice survey sent to all of the references, and the hiring manager reached out to them on the phone. I never heard anything more from the recruiter or hiring manager beyond a generic email that they decided to go with someone else. All of my references are solid. Who wastes this much of a candidate’s time, and calls all of their references and sends them surveys, only to not make an offer? There was no response to my request for detailed feedback. Stay away if you value your time. Any company who uses aptitude tests and multiple choice surveys for references isn’t worth your time.

The Director I interviewed with made it the most awkward interview I've ever had. He spent the whole time making me defend my resume and basically all of my life choices.

Was contacted by a recruiter & invited to interview. They sent me two online tests (aptitude & personality), which were pretty basic. Was told I skipped the first phone interview. My interview lasted about 3.5 hours with 6 people. one person asked me to tell him about my life, which I didn't appreciate. The recruiter came in last and asked if I was still interested in the position, if I was interviewing anywhere else, etc.

1 F2F panel followed by lots of phone interviews and one day on site. Took several weeks overall. Felt very slow and choppy as they gathered all the interviewers. While on site, didn't get offered a bathroom break or a drink of water. Had to follow up several times before getting final contact from recruiter.

An unusually intrusive screening process – SAT-like test and referrals to current and past managers to discuss performance. Otherwise, just the standard phone screens and half day on-site interviews with up to six people. The questions were standard for a PM role.
Then things got weird. The hiring manager asked for a second, ad hoc meeting equivalent to a 30-minute speed date. He explained that a person within the company asked for the position. Even though I was more the more qualified candidate, he felt it’d be better to give the position to someone that is close to him despite their lack of experience for the position.
Nepotism isn’t uncommon in the job market, but why in the world would you invite someone back to a second meeting to discuss how you’d rather give the job to a personal buddy?

The hiring process was intensive (spoke to 10+ people) but overall it was very enjoyable and transparent. Process included phone screen with the hiring manager, onsite day of interviews and then a few follow up interviews, reference checks and an assessment. Overall I was very impressed with Watchguard's employees and recruiting process. Management seemed very approachable, engaged and intelligent. They don't try to trick you and are pretty clear about expectations.

First round is a phone call where they go over resume and some technical lingo. Then they send a coding challenge. Overall pretty easy interview and coding challenge is really easy as well. I got ghosted for two weeks and had to ask for them to send me the challenge since they forgot. Then after I sent my coding challenge which worked with all the advanced features they wanted I didn't get moved on. No one responded when I sent my challenge and had to catch up with recruiter again. They didn't move on with me. Overall bad communication and waste of time. They already had other candidates they wanted to pursue and just wasted my time.
