Soon went on to expand to 23 other crayon inspired shades. Launched: First retail store in 1991 as Makeup Art Cosmetics Russian Red: was originally created for Madonna during her 1990 Blonde Ambition tour. She needed a red lipstick to last the whole concert. Estée Lauder: In 1995 purchased a percentage of MAC and in 1998 acquired the remaining parts of the company.
