I was looking for a temporary position to hold me over while I'm applying for a "real job". My answer was along the lines of: "I'd like to get more face-to-face communication experience with customers & cash handling behind the register" (I was applying for a bank position at the time) As long as you show that you actually kind of care & are willing to work closing or weekend shifts, it should be enough for them to hire you. If you think a lot of people are applying for 1 or 2 entry positions, just try to stand out; literally, just try. Actually smile in your interview, be a little bubbly, wear a button up shirt, look legit & they'll figure you'll be reliable.
