The mission of First Step is to eliminate both domestic and sexual violence and to provide comprehensive services to individuals and families impacted by these crimes.
First Step is the comprehensive domestic violence and sexual assault supportive services agency for Wayne County, Michigan. As such, First Step provides advocacy, counseling, PPO assistance, emergency shelter, transitional housing, and other barrier-reducing services to primary and secondary survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Since 1978, First Step has been serving clients and expanding programs to help those impacted by these forms of violence and has recently added a Speaker's Bureau to educate the community on the dynamics of intimate partner violence and sexual assault.
