Equinox Payments gets worked up over transaction processing. Businesses use its products to swipe credit, debit, and smart cards. Its product line also includes printers, keypads, and networking gear. The company's software encompasses point-of-sale management systems, terminal operations, and systems monitoring. Equinox also provides asset management, systems implementation, and transaction services. It sells to distributors, financial institutions, payment processors, and retailers. Formerly known as Hypercom Corporation, the company was acquired in 2011 by rival VeriFone for about $485 million in stock. Its US, UK and Spain businesses were then sold to private equity firm The Gores Group and rebranded as Equinox.
