The company, better known as ING Direct, offers the Orange Savings Account, which boasts higher-than-average interest rates and one of the highest yields in the industry. Doing business in the US via the Internet, over the phone, by ATM, and by mail, ING Direct also offers certificates of deposit, individual retirement accounts, home mortgages, and paperless checking accounts. For businesses, ING Direct offers savings accounts, CDs, and 401(k) plans. The bank offers online brokerage services through ING Direct Investing (formerly ShareBuilder), which it acquired in 2007. Capital One bought ING Direct from Amsterdam-based ING Groep for some $9 billion in 2012.
