The company really values a positive and supportive work culture. I love the team and my manager Robinson has been an excellent mentor through my probation and training period. I feel truly valued and look forward to the work days.

Contras

The company is scaling rapidly right now, so that can lead to bursts of additional work with tight deadlines, but nothing that's too overwhelming. I'm glad they're taking time to not only find people with skills that fit the team, but who have the same values.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re glad to see your experience of Ballistic Arts was flexible, welcoming, respectful, and collaborative. These are key traits that we're proud to uphold through our core values. That said, some details in your review don't align with our current or past employee records over the last 5 years. For instance, we don’t currently have or hire for software developer roles under the title of "Desarrollador de software," and 3 out of 4 of our web team members have been with us for 4 years. Additionally, as a 100% remote company since March 2020, we don’t maintain a brick and mortar office that could create an "inadequate working space." Instead, we support our team with the necessary equipment they need to create functional home-office setups. If you did in fact work with us, we’d welcome the chance to better understand your experience. And if this review may have been posted in error on the wrong company profile, we'd really appreciate the opportunity to connect and clarify. Thank you again, and we wish you all the best.

The company culture and core values sound great on paper. Your teammates are excellent people to be working with. Some projects will be really interesting and fun to work on. It is also a business that has doors, windows, and electricity. Sometimes there's pizza.

Contras

One needs to provide their own equipment. If one asks for equipment, like a Wacom tablet, a lamp, or anything ergonomic, they'll usually get turned down. The company will, however, offer to send you to a Landmark Forum. For the record, a Landmark course is in the thousands. A Wacom Tablet is $200-$400 bucks. Also, Wacom tablets make you less of a sanctimonious sycophant and were never banned in France or Germany. More importantly, they help you do your job. The clients really won't be interested in your Landmark rank. To save money or compete with contracts, hours do get cut from projects so they'll turn into rush jobs. This will lead you to work on projects you'll be too embarrassed to put in your portfolio. I'd recommended that you work on your own projects on the side to keep your portfolio shining. Turnover is high, which is objectively a sign of a bad place. There will be lots of people who "suddenly" just quit amicably during a last-minute meeting (i.e. not the usual 2 weeks notice). Don't get too attached to your peers.

Hello, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review of Ballistic Arts. It's important for us to know what areas we're doing well in and what areas we can improve on. Your comment that our teammates are excellent people to work with is something we take pride in, because to us culture is the most important part of our organization. I’m sorry your experience with us was not great. We want all of our team members to enjoy their time with us. I know this message will not make up for your experience though if you like, you can see our blog post that talks about some of the areas we’ve made improvements on: https://ballisticarts.com/feedback-is-a-gift/ I would like, however, to respond with a few points in your review. "One needs to provide their own equipment. If one asks for equipment, like a Wacom tablet, a lamp, or anything ergonomic, they'll usually get turned down." We ensure our team has the best equipment to do their jobs and fulfill all requests for equipment, and always have. We want to ensure that our staff are comfortable when working. During Covid-19, we have taken precautionary measures to make sure we get all necessary equipment to staff that is needed in a safe and expedient manner. We take health and safety very seriously. We invited a local ergonomist to come educate us a few years ago, and after that seminar everyone that wanted a new chair got a new one. “The company will, however, offer to send you to a Landmark Forum. For the record, a Landmark course is in the thousands.” We have offered the Landmark Forum course twice as a free company wide course in 2015/16. This course is under $1k, not thousands of dollars, and we believe that it can be of great benefit professionally and personally. However, any learning opportunities must have mutual buy-in and it’s only one aspect of developing oneself professionally. Our staff have also been provided the opportunity to take digital marketing courses at BrainStation, ScrumMaster courses, Project Management courses, website design courses, UBC content writing courses, been offered professional one-to-one coaching, and BCIT night classes. Employees can apply to have the company pay for any course they feel may benefit their career and the company. I’m really sorry that your time at Ballistic Arts was not a positive one. While I don’t know who you are, you have my personal cell phone. I welcome you to call or text me anytime. I would really love to hear from you directly about your concerns, and share with you the positive changes we have been implementing. Ted Lau, CEO Ballistic Arts
