Prós

The work environment is calm and structured, which makes it easy to focus and learn. Training is clear, and team leads are generally patient when you are still getting the hang of classification rules. There is a sense of routine, so once you understand the process, you can work efficiently. It’s a good place to build foundational experience in customs documentation and international trade.

Contras

Growth opportunities can feel slow when you’re part-time. Communication between shifts can also be better to reduce rework and small delays.

OT is pretty unlimited to help supplement income, not a physically demanding job. OT is voluntary. Benefits are goodish not great. With the cost of living being as low as they are in this area the pay is pretty decent. (Not amazing but you are earning a living wage OT lets you supplement that far beyond living wage) Direct management has far exceeded what I anticipated when I accepted this position a while back. Growth opportunities are endless (remember with growth you are giving away more freedoms, I feel that’s par for the course IMO. A trade off I’m willing to accept, I don’t blame you if you aren’t willing to accept that) Plenty of PTO it’s actually hard to use it all if you are a type of worker who enjoys work.

Contras

While we do work a lot of hours most of the OT is voluntary. We do have plenty of mandatory OT also. So the hours can be long. This job does demand you to be mentally sharp at all times everyday.
