Prós

Diverse school with smaller class sizes

Contras

Teachers are NOT supported and NOT respected. No training provided. No curriculum. Classrooms are tiny. Management cheap and horrible communicators. Cameras are everywhere and you WILL be watched. You will only get one 30 minute break per day. Technology is cheap and dated. No benefits during the summer. Teachers quit every year.

• We are disappointed and concerned by your review, which contains false and misleading claims. • Our accreditation by COGNIA and their recognition of Renton Prep as the first certified STEM school in Washington State as well as Microsoft selecting our school for the past 10 years as their only US based Flagship School (one of only 17 in the world) and present-day Showcase School speaks for itself. If your post was accurate, then both of these internationally recognized companies must have ignored all these accusations during their extensive assessment and review of Renton Prep. Seriously? How likely does it seem that Cognia or Microsoft would give their stamp of approval. Does this review make sense given the reality of Cognia and Microsoft selection of Renton Prep as a global model for educational transformation?

The administration are micro-managers and very rude at times.

We are disappointed and concerned by your review, which contains false and misleading claims. • First, as a globally recognized school accredited by COGNIA and a Microsoft Showcase School, very clearly defined procedures and expectations for teachers and students are transparent and responsive. We communicate regularly with our staff and stakeholders, and we welcome feedback and suggestions. We also follow the policies and procedures of our school board and state, and we report our progress and challenges to the appropriate authorities. We are responsible for managing the school. Wevdo not provide traditional spoon-fed professional development for teachers, as they are responsible for on-going development of their skills and learning. Curriculum, scope, and sequence at all grade levels are reviewed during accreditation. We offer trainings, and coaching sessions throughout the year, and we support teachers in pursuing their own learning goals and interests. We also have a clear and coherent curriculum framework that aligns with the state standards and the best practices in education. That this teacher could not meet our basic expectations and refused to accept guidance and support from our Principal and resigned prior to their evaluation substantiated our concerns. We offered this employee a strong mentoring program that paired this new teacher with veteran teachers, and we foster a culture of collaboration and support among our staff as long as staff choose to use what is offered. • Our teachers have 4 different levels of leadership supervision to discuss their concerns or insights. This reviewer chose to use none of avenues because there was no actual basis for the criticism.
