Each work day started around 11am and the environment was very casual

Contras

The attorney and the manager there are extremely lazy and like to play the blame game whenever something goes wrong. There also is not a lot of training on the job, so it is a learn as you go thing. If you do something wrong, most of the time, you will get a passive aggressive email and the entire staff will be copied on it. When a client complains, they will tell them a white lie to quell them. They also bad-mouthed their clients a lot, which was extremely unprofessional. The manager there also had extremely sporadic hours and seems like they would come and go as they wish. If there was anything urgent to be completed, it would be up to the employees to work together to figure everything out. That being said, the salary was also extremely low for the work being done.

I enjoyed working here honestly. I loved helping the clients from all over the world obtain their visas. It was a great learning experience. It is a very chilled environment.

Contras

The starting salary was great for an entry level, but it doesn't increase by much over time.

Contras

I found this firm on Indeed advertising an open Immigration Paralegal/Writer position. After 2 interviews and a writing assessment, I was told that I was hired and given assignments. I turned in my assignments on time and actively pursued training relative to the feedback I was given. I also want to note that this feedback included multiple notes regarding my capacity as a writer and the high potential for me to produce what the firm needed from me. I bring up this last note because it figured largely into the disorientation I experienced when I was fired after 9 days. The manager explained those 9 days were "a trial period," and that I had been in-office auditioning, which I would not have agreed to if explained to me in advance. I left a full-time position for this job because I was not aware I was entering a game-show-style competition. I do not understand how I managed to make it through multiple interviews, pass the office's writing assessment, and receive a great-deal of positive feedback, only to be dismissed after 9 days.
