I interview for outside sales representative with a resume that shows my experience in outside sales and physical warehouse labor. After being hired, they put me in admin doing Shipping and Receiving, dealing with nonstop paper work despite never having done that in my life. This tells me they didn’t care about who was going where, they just needed a body for any position at the moment. My first couple days is spent blindly floating from a couple of people that do a mediocre onboarding process as it seems they were not prepared. So I try my best to start learning about Bills of Lading and Shipping Manifests which again, I have never dealt with in my life. There are no relevant SOP’s written down; one is a binder that is 10 years old and irrelevant and that is it. I start finding problems and writing them down getting ready to learn from my notes and make the department easier for whoever may come after me. After 2 weeks, I’m starting to get it down. I get pulled into a meeting saying “you need to learn quicker and also stop wearing headphones” which I would only do if I needed to log large quantities of numbers. Not to mention other employees would spend over an hour a day talking about video games or buying houses; I don’t personally care but the hypocrisy from upper management is wild. I ask if there is something that I did to trigger this meeting and I was told “No” so I took it more as a pep talk and constructive criticism. So I stop wearing my headphones and start double checking my work to make sure it’s 100% accurate. 2 days later from my meeting, I am fired with no reason given. I then learn that it was the upper management who is in twice a week that made the decision out of the blue kind of based on nothing from what I understand. There is like 3 people in upper management that are cool, and 3+ that have are questionable at decision making at best. So if you like hypocrisy, favorites being picked, being hired to do the wrong job, lack of communication and a terrible onboarding process, this is the job for you. I have never been fired or let go from a job ever; and this was a blindside with no reason given. I got paid but didn’t even see my pay stub; there was no training on how to find basic information like pay stubs or official PTO/Day Off request forms.
