I was let go abruptly, with zero prior warning or performance feedback, exactly one month before a significant stock vesting milestone. The termination was attributed to “restructuring,” but no clear explanation or professional courtesy was provided. Access was immediately removed, giving me no time to prepare personally or financially, which caused unnecessary stress. Leadership within the commercial teams (Sales & Customer Success, especially in LATAM) is highly misaligned and politically driven. I experienced internal gossip, lack of support, and instances of credit-taking for others’ work, which foster a toxic environment rather than collaboration. Decisions are often made based on internal politics, not merit or customer outcome. The Sales team also lacks any technical/API security knowledge and their leadership/managerial skills in non-existent. I received no managerial support or regular check-ins (with most scheduled 1:1s being cancelled last minute), and communication was so disengaged that during the termination meeting, I was addressed with the wrong name. That reflects well how disconnected leadership is from the team. Cross-functional collaboration is poor, with Sales often stepping into post-sales responsibilities in ways that hinder long-term client relationships, while also claiming credit for your work, and spreading rumors and lies behind your back. I was surprised to learn more about my own alleged dissatisfaction from indirect sources than from any actual conversation. There’s little to no strategic alignment between departments. Regarding the product, it has potential but suffers from stability issues and multiple bugs, which makes client management and proving value unnecessarily challenging.
