I was selected for a screening call and then a subsequent virtual interview. The recruiter who selected me said I was the perfect fit, as I have a few years of experience as an Engineer in Training in processing plants, and currently work at one. However, there were many red flags during the interview process, and it seemed like they just wanted to get me out of the way for some reason.
They were over 30 minutes late to contact me for the screening call (excuse was "they are busy"), and another recruiter called me while I was in a meeting for my current job, I was then contacted late on a Friday to virtually interview on the following Monday, giving me very little time to prepare,
During the virtual interview, the interviewer didn't seem to care at all about what I was saying, they were noticeably on their phone when I was answering their questions. They also mentioned that I am a bit far from the location of work and would have to relocate, as if this was bad (even though I mentioned the job was in my hometown that I regularly visit). Additionally, I was told during the interview there were more interviews for the next two weeks after mine (why was I scheduled so early then, and in such a rushed manner?). The interviewer then ended the interview quite abruptly once my own questions to them were done, which were answered very half-heartedly. I was then rejected less than 24 hours later, by means of a notification through Workday (not even an email or phone call), confirming all of the above.
Overall, it was a negative experience, easily the most disorganized and insincere interviewing processes I have gone through. I will not be very inclined to apply AltaGas again. I received and accepted an offer from a different midstream company shortly after anyway and wanted to share this experience.
