I saw the job posting on Indeed on a Sunday night. I applied to it and the next morning an HR Recruiter contacts me via email for a phone interview. Fast forward 2 days later, when the recruiter called me at our agreed time, she didn't not even bother to introduce herself or talk anything about the company. From my past experience, recruiters usually give you a brief overview about what job entails, and a little about themselves, etc. Like small talk. She jumped in immediately after our greetings and asked me two questions only: 1) where did I find this job posting and 2) did i have treasury experience? I replied that I have had two finance internships, (which are clearly stated in the resume I applied with.) Then she cut me off before I could describe my work experience and said that the internships are not enough experience for this role and they needed someone with at least 2 years in the treasury corporate world. She immediately describes and offers a pricing analyst role for me to apply to and told me to contact her again if I was interested. I did ask a few follow up questions about the pricing analyst role. The phone call lasted 4 minutes only because I asked questions; it probably was really about 2 minutes total. She was very short and direct. I am not even sure why she contacted me. My resume clearly stated my experience when I applied for the treasury analyst. So I thought it was be enough experience in order to score the phone interview. It was a weird encounter. I hope the rest of the company isn't like her.
