Received an interview request and spent around 1 hour talking to the hiring manager and recruiter. The recruiter was a bit rude when asking if I spoke French and I said no, but it wasn’t on my resume or listed at all in the job description so I didn’t think it would be an issue. A week later I received a generic rejection email. I replied asking for feedback because I am a current university student and I received a generic response from the recruiter saying that they don’t have time to give me feedback. As a student seeking jobs during the pandemic this told me a lot about CN’s culture and values. They claim to want to give learning and development experiences to students, but the fact that they refused to take 2 minutes to give genuine feedback, when I took an hour to interview with them, only to have potentially been rejected for something they could have screened for in my resume or during the phone call (speaking French) was pretty disappointing.
