      Candidatura

Candidatei-me online. Fui entrevistado pela Colorado BioScience Association em ago. de 2023

      Entrevista

Normally do not write reviews on Glassdoor but after my experience with this organization, I felt the need to share how awful this company treated me as a candidate. This is completely subjective based on my experience alone as everybody can have completely different results from their interviews here. This is a small organization mostly ran by women, which I admire. Great, The initiative is admirable. It’s a non-profit organization and the people who work here seem to be passionate about what they do and strive to keep their culture tight-knit. But this is where it also becomes toxic. I was an out-of-state candidate that the president of the organization was fully aware of. She was willing and open to interview me and gauge where I am in regards to my career path and who I am as a person. We had a great initial conversation and she seemed very personable and interested in my background. The feeling was mutual but I noticed the lack of organization or urgency on her part as she even forgot to send me a second round panel interview which I had to remind her about. She put me through a more rigorous process where I had to complete an outline of my greatest accomplishments. I did not mind that at all but I am not sure what that provided during the panel interview since the rest of the team did not discuss much of my prior skills during the interview. I’m glad there was no skills assessment because for a non-senior level role paying less than $70k a year, I personally thought they put me through enough of a lengthy process in which I provided several references to the best of my abilities and even spoke with those references beforehand. The panel interview went well but it seemed like the team was trying to figure out my personality more than what skills I can bring to the table. In all fairness, I was eager enough and personable enough but I’m not a bubbly person. I was interviewing for an accounting job, not a marketing or customer service job! Get over yourselves. Personally, from an objective standpoint, the women at this company are very biased in their hiring approach and incredibly judgmental and specified that I was negative during our interactions and that I have a lot of “competing priorities”. First the president of the organization said that I was a finalist in the hiring process and then she gave me all of this negative feedback after nearly two weeks of stringing me along and giving me false hope, saying she was contacting my references and keeping in touch with me. When she was unable to get ahold of one of the references, I reached out to them personally. Finally after weeks of interviewing, submitting my accomplishments in a word document and patiently waiting to hear about a potential offer, I was rejected. To be frank, I was shocked and pretty appalled. I felt incredibly deceived, judged and disrespected by this organization. I did my diligence and went above and beyond and was still not given an offer. I invested more time and energy than I should have and took a risk applying to an out-of-state company that basically implied that I am an inconvenience to them because I am not local and that I wouldn’t be able to perform the necessary job functions. I have a decade of experience under my belt- their biased opinions indicate how unprofessional they are and how poorly they treat the people they are interviewing. The job market is very unstable now and the application process, has been nothing short of grueling, especially being an out-of-state candidate, which made the process even more stressful. I have been personally applying to companies out of my usual area in hopes of a reset. Where I worked previously, was not the right fit for me. I spoke about that in the most neutral and non-critical way to not throw that company under the bus and the team at CBSA took something out of context and thought that I was negative either because of that or because I explained to them why I am wanting to relocate. I should not have to explain myself any further and if you will be that nit-picky without even meeting me in person and seeing my actual work performance, then I completely dodged a bullet. That being said, I would never want to work for an organization like this anyway. What a horrible team of individuals. The hiring process is horrible and these people should be ashamed of their behavior.

      Perguntas de entrevista [1]

      Pergunta 1

Where do you see yourself in the next 5-10 years? Have you been interviewing with other companies and what stages are you in now? I do not recall much else but most of the questions asked were not specifically going over my prior skills and how these skills can be applied to the role I was interviewing for. You may want to change your questions if you want different answers that specifically correlate to the job… not the cliché BS about where I see myself in 5-10 years. Change your practices instead of putting full blame on the candidate.
